The FREC proposal helped fund the purchase of updated Anhydrous Ammonia safety manuals for the fertilizer distributors and dealers in Illinois. IFCA made these manuals available to all facilities who handle NH3 and aqua ammonia. Our distribution has been in the form of mailings to the members and handing out the manuals at anhydrous ammonia compliance meetings.
This manual has been extremely helpful in getting anhydrous ammonia facility managers up-to-date on safety information and operational procedures that are required by the USEPA Risk Management Program. It also contains helpful checklists that can be used to assure compliance with the RMP and enhance overall safety at the facility.
IFCA intends to make these manuals available again at the IFCA convention in January where we will be working with IDA on a regulatory session dealing specifically with the Risk Management Plan audit program and other anhydrous ammonia compliance issues.
In total, between handing out the manuals at the compliance workshops and supplementing with mailings as we remind our members of their availability, we have distributed well over 500 manuals.
